College Preparation

MIS is a school which also guides the students to choose their future by providing COLLEGE PREPARATION classes. These classes are give to the students of grade 12, in which the students prepare for their college entrance exams, SAT's, Toefl etc. It also helps them to get fimiliar with the colleges in United States and also helps the students to select the course they want to take according to their ambition.

Here are few important points if you want to study in the United States for an undergraduate degree (4 years) A. You will need about one year to complete the application process.B. Study in the U.S. is expensive and financial aid for undergraduates is rare. C. Admission to a college does not guarantee that a student visa will be issued.Following are steps to take to begin the search for the university that is right for you:

1. Define your educational career objectives -What career do you want to pursue?
-What subjects do you excel in?

2. Do you meet the admission requirements? -You will need a strong academic background.
-A command of the English language.
-Adequate financial resource
-Required entrance examinations

3. Evaluate your ability to finance study in the U.S. -Plan for the TOTAL cost of living and study over a period of several years.
-Remember... the hidden costs of education in the U.S. include transportation, health insurance, phone bills, etc.

4. Arrange to take the TOEFL examination -English language proficiency is requirememt for gainging admission to an American University.
-TOEFL registration booklets are available at the Cultural Center Library.

5. Prepare for enrollment by selectinv ten or more appropriate institutions. -Begin your research in the Cultural Center Library. There are books, handouts, pamphlets, and CD's available for your perusal.
-Narrow your search by considering geographical area and/or course of study.
-Costs of living are generally higher on both coasts and lower in the south and Midwest.
-There are bothe public and private universities in the U.S. Pubic universities are usually less expensive.
-Two-yearcommunity colleges are an option BUT make sure that credits you earn are transferable to the four institution of your choice.
-Take your time and study all the available material thoroughly.

6. Write, fax or e-mail the school you are interested in and ask for information and an application or visit their website.

7. When application forms arrive, prepare them thoroughly and carefully. -You will need to provide educational documents from previous schools, TOEFL results, SAT scores, and letters of recommendation.

8. Wait for offers of admission and I-20 form.

9. Apply for visa.
