MIS' 1st Annual
Standardized Test : CTB/McGraw-Hill - TerraNova 3
Dear MIS, 3rd, 5th and 8th grade parents:
MIS like all schools in the State of Qatar are required to
administer, annually, standardized test for targeted grades. We have
selected the 3rd, 5th and 8th grades. Cost for the administration was not
included in the original tuition fees nonetheless, it was
anticipated that parents would have to underwrite any charges potentially
accrued by MIS.
Our first annual standardized testing will
be administered through the CTB/McGraw-Hill testing program for 3rd, 5th
and 8th graders. The test are aligned with the California standards. Total cost for scoring, on-line
set up and for the test booklets, including the complete battery (English/LA,
math, social studies and science) will be 150 QR per student. Payments
must be made in the business office. Test booklets come in packages of 25 and
they include one (1) set of test directions, while Grade 3
includes one package of manipulatives.
We
anticipate administering the test in either late March or early April. Of
course, you will be informed. Payment
must be received by January 31, 2012 . We thank you for your
anticipated support.
Regards,
T.

Qatar Music Academy, the Qatar Foundation division dedicated to educating the next generation of young musicians, is holding a concert showcasing the very best of Arab music. This concert will be staged at the Drama Theatre in Katara, Cultural Village, on Thursday 15 December at 6pm, and admission will be free on a first come, first served basis. We would be more than delighted if your parents, students and staff attended this unique musical event. We would therefore appreciate if you could forward the attached flyers as you deem appropriate.
The concert will feature the first ever performance of the Arab music ensemble, Marasi, comprised entirely of teachers from Qatar Music Academy’s Arab Music Department. Marasi in Arabic describes a harbour where ships return home after long voyages, and is an apt name for the ensemble as they act as guardians of maqam musical heritage from all over the Arab world. The ensemble will perform on traditional instruments such as the `ud, buzuq, nay, qanun, violin (Kaman) and a variety of Middle Eastern percussion instruments such as darbukkah, riq, duhul and tar.
For more information about Marasiand the forthcoming concert, please visit Qatar Music Academy’s website at www.qatarmusicacademy.com.qa. Alternatively, Issa Boulos, Head of Arab Music, can be contacted at iboulos@qf.org.qa.
