Mis Events

For the very firsttime, both grade 10and 11 students of MIS took their PSATs (PreliminaryScholastic Aptitude Test)this Saturday, October 15th.  The PSATs weresuccessfully administered in MIS' school grounds. This test is astepping-stone to preparing students for the actual SATs, and othersimilar/international tests that MIS will also eventually be administeringin school.

MIS' 1st PTO Meeting held on Monday

At least 75 parent couples attended MIS' 1st PTO meeting on Monday, October 17th, organized to establishits PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization). The PTO will serve to provide further support to the School community and its Management, for its overall and long-term improvement. 

Twenty parents have indicated,after the orientation meeting, that they are interested in helping MIS createits first PTO. A follow- up meeting, for all those who have confirmed theirinterest to join, will be announced in the coming weeks.

The MIS Management is very pleased and grateful for the support parents have extended in this initiative.*

 MIS-Student Council Puts up for Sale

Middle East International School Student Council officers conducted their first fund raising event which was the “Stationary and Bake Sale” held on October 19, 2011 in the school’s auditorium.

The officers personally baked some of the items such as muffins, brownies and cup cakes which the elementary students (Grade 1-5 ) really enjoyed.

The next 'Bake Sale' is scheduled next Wednesday, October 26th 2011 for the Middle School and High School Department.

Proceeds of these sales will go to the Student Councils' upcoming activities and events.

Grade 11 and 12th students attended a fair today whereby 12 universities from America came to theschool to expose the student to the programmes they have to offer.

The students were able to discuss entry requirements and how the programs would assistthem, with thecareers they are considering to undertake in the future.

 The student spent 1.5 hours moving from one intuition to another and came away withbrochures and information as how to apply and what grades/subjects they needed for entry . It was a very informative visit for MIS students.

 Global Vision of Jordan organized a visit to MIS by 3 American universities to provide our grade11-12 students gained an insight to the programmes they offer and the facilities they have.

Our students appreciated this visit and found it very informative. The students received booklets with the website address, so they can visit the university online andgain as much information as they may need or contact any of the faculty administrators. 

American University of Cairo

The American University was well renewed by many of the students of grade 11-12. The main faculty ofinterest was engineering.

They spoke widelyabout this and advised our student of the steps they needed to take duringtheir year 12 to apply for the programmer.

Grade 11 students alsowere give details of what subject they should need to pass if they wished toapply during the next academic year.

North Western University Education City Qatar

North Western University,Qatar, visited MIS 0n 30th October and informed our grade 11 and 12 students about the journalism and communication programmes they offer.  While attending North Western University students will be participating in activities such as film and documentary making,not just in Qatar but different parts if the world, sothey actually have hands on experience . Also students attending North Western University won 2nd and 3rdplace awards in the film festival this year.

The presentation wasvery informative and students were impressed at the opportunity for these interested in this field.

MIS Foundation Day and MIS GotTalent Show  

Foundation Days7-8thDecember 2011

The school’s Student Council body organised a week of practicing and auditions for the MIS Got Talent Show and set out guidelines for the Paper Dress Competition. This week’s activities culminated in a two day programme of fun activities for all students and parents attending MIS.

The 7thand 8th of December saw the students and parents of MIS enjoying a programme of activities starting at 8am through to 1.50 (11.30am for Middle/High school).The programme began with a Quran recital and the National Anthem followed by information regarding the history of the school and a group dance performed by members ofthe Student Council. The activities consisted of table top games, team games,face and henna painting and many more.

Our High school students also took part in sports matches against staff on the 8th. Volleyball for girls and female staff and football for boys and male staff….  Even though the students are young and fit,our teachers won both games, even though the students claimed they let them win.

MIS Paper DressCompetition and MIS Got Talent Show 8th December

The Student Council organised auditionsfrom Sunday 4th through to the 6th categorizing into 3 grade levels, Elementary, Middle and High school. Judging was based on their content and execution.

The programme commenced at4.20pm in the auditorium with an Introduction speech by Ms. Dee (VicePrincipal) who set the scene for the evening by introducing the panel of independentjudges and specifying the criteria that the acts and dresses would be judgedby. This was followed by an opening speech by the Principal Dr. Haig.

All Paper Dress competitors paraded their dresses in front of the judges and provided a hard task for them carryout. The design of the dresses that were made were inspirational and excellently executed.

These contestants received a trophy and certificate.

The talentshow organized  by grade levels and the competitors amazed the audience and judges with their wonderful performances ranging from singing, dancing, gymnastics, body popping, ballet and instrumentals.  The atmosphere was tenseand enjoyable at the same time,  the students standing in the wings waiting to perform were nervous and apprehensive, whilst those who had already performed were excited about their result.

KG NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATION

Dec 16th 2011

Kindergarten children and staff at MIS celebrated Qatar National Day on Thursday December 15, 2011. We had a special assembly attended by our Principal, Dr. Haig and our Assistant Principal, Ms. Dee.

All students waved Qatari flags, while some wore local traditional dress as they marched during the playing of the Qatari National Anthem. KG staff also distributed sweets among the children. Our little ones had a great time in celebration of an historic annual occasion.

MIS KINDERGARTEN(KG) SPORTS DAY - 2012.

MIS KG sports day was held on Thursday the 2nd  of February 2012.

 

Our principal, Dr. Haig welcomed the gathering.

 

The program was hosted by vice-principal, Ms Deana Morris.

 

Children amazed the audience with their wonderful performances ranging from parade, formation of MIS, cheering & drill display followed by a variety of games.

 

Certificates were given by dr. Haig & Ms. Deana to all the participants.

 

 The winning teams - KG 2A - (green team) & KG 1C- (blue team) were awarded with the golden trophy.

 

First runner ups - KG 2B - (orange team) & KG1B - (black team) were awarded with the silver trophy.
